Quebec Muskies Study

This year Muskies Canada and its Montreal chapter begins a collaboration with the Quebec Minister of Forestry, Wildlife and Parks for an extensive study of the muskellunge populations in Quebec. The study will focus on identifying muskellunge spawning habitat in lake Saint-Pierre for possibly better protect or develop these habitats. The study has also an objective the get a status on muskies populations in Quebec.

The Montreal Chapter is proud to announce the financial participation of Muskies Canada to help finance the study for an initial amount of $ 3,000. This was confirmed at Muskies Canada annual general meeting which was held in Peterborough last weekend.

The Montreal Chapter will also contribute financially to the study for a sum of $ 2,000.

At the annual general meeting, the Ottawa Chapter has also offered its support by giving us a check for $ 500 to help the study.

So it's an initial amount of $ 5,500 that will donate to finance the study!

Creation of the fund Muskies Canada for Québec

Montréal, January 19th 2016. - Muskies Canada’s Montreal Chapter announced the creation of the sub fund "Muskies Canada for Quebec" embedded in the Muskies Canada foundation. Muskies Canada can now issue receipts for tax purposes to donators. In the coming years, Muskies Canada and its chapters in Montreal and Quebec will make various fundraisers to contribute to the fund.

The money will partially finance a large study driven by the Québec Minister of Forestry, Wildlife and Parks on the state of muskellunge populations in Quebec’s water bodies. The study will target particularly the state of the muskellunge population in Lake Saint-Pierre and upstream sectors.

Joining Muskies Canada and participating in various events organized by the Montreal chapter will finance a study that will directly help the populations of muskellunge Quebec.

Muskies Fishing Tournaments Inventory

Biologists from the Quebec Ministry of Forestry, Wildlife and Parks wants us to help them make a list of all muskie fishing tournaments in Quebec. They want to send technicians on-site to take samples of catches. You know the existence of such a tournament in your area, please give us the information by posting here. Thank you!
